London to Brighton Veteran Car Run

London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is an annual drive from London to the city of Brighton and Hove by automobiles that were manufactured before 1905. It takes place at the beginning of November in commemoration of the day in 1896 when the speed limit for cars in towns was raised from 2 miles per hour (about 3 kilometers per hour) to 14 miles per hour (about 23 kilometers per hour). The cars taking part in the rally must complete the 53-mile (85-kilometer) journey between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
