Trestle

Trestle, in engineering, is a structure used to support railroad tracks or a road over a valley, or at a crossing point over railroad tracks or a road. A wooden trestle, made of bents (tall posts connected by ties and braces), usually costs less to build than a bridge. Trestles may also be made of iron or steel.

In carpentry, a trestle is a beam on legs, similar to a sawhorse. It is used to support work. Some tables and drawing boards are supported by a frame called a trestle.
