Tunbridge Wells (pop. 115,311) is a residential town in Kent, in southeast England. Agriculture is the main industry of the district. Grain crops are important, but sheep and cattle are also raised. Tunbridge Wells has an industrial area, with products including aerosols, books and printed materials, and sunglasses. Many people who live in the town work in London.
Tunbridge Wells was at one time a fashionable spa, visited by royalty. The town is known for its terraced promenade, called The Pantiles. The Pantiles consists of shops set behind a colonnade (row of columns) and a row of lime trees.
