West Country, The, is the southwestern part of England. It includes Devon and Somerset counties and the Cornwall Unitary Authority. Sometimes Dorset, Gloucestershire, or Wiltshire are also considered part of the region. The West Country is mainly rural and low lying. Agriculture and tourism are the chief occupations, but the region also has a wide variety of manufacturing, mining, and engineering industries.
