Assumption College

Assumption College is a Roman Catholic liberal arts college in Worcester, Massachusetts. A religious order called the Augustinians of the Assumption, or Assumptionists, founded Assumption in 1904 as a preparatory school for boys and a college for men. Assumption began as a school for French-speaking Americans, and classes there were taught in French until the 1950’s. In 1956, Assumption Preparatory School became a separate entity from Assumption College. The college began to admit women in 1969. Assumption’s athletic teams are called the Greyhounds.
