Carleton University

Carleton University is a private, independent institution of higher learning in Ottawa, Canada. It was founded in 1942 as Carleton College and then became Carleton University in 1957. The institution was named for Sir Guy Carleton, a British general and governor of Quebec in the late 1700’s.
