Edgewood College

Edgewood College is an independent institution of higher learning in Madison, Wisconsin. The Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters, a Roman Catholic religious order of women, founded Edgewood in 1927 as a junior college for women. Its name reflects its location in a wooded area along a lakeshore. Edgewood College became a four-year institution in 1940. In 1970, the college began to admit men. The curriculum emphasizes the liberal arts. Students who are unable to attend college full-time may complete their studies through a weekend degree program. Edgewood College athletic teams are called the Eagles.
