Franciscan University of Steubenville is a private institution of higher learning in Steubenville, Ohio. The Third Order Regular of St. Francis, also known as the Franciscans, a Roman Catholic religious order of men, founded the institution in 1946 as the College of Steubenville. The college became the University of Steubenville in 1980 and then Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1985. The university admits both men and women.
