Harding University is a private institution of higher learning in Searcy, Arkansas. It is affiliated with the Church of Christ. The institution was established in 1924 with the merger of Arkansas Christian College in Morrilton, Arkansas, and Harper College in Harper, Kansas. It was named Harding College in honor of James A. Harding, an American educator and minister. The college moved to Searcy in 1934. It became Harding University in 1979. The men’s athletic teams are called the Bisons, and the women’s teams are the Lady Bisons.
