Pretoria, University of, is an institution of higher education in South Africa. The University of Pretoria was established in 1903 as the Transvaal Technical Institute. It became the Transvaal University College in 1906. A campus was established in the city center of Pretoria in 1908, and the University of Pretoria was granted its charter in 1930. Teaching is conducted in Afrikaans and English. Several research institutes are attached to the University of Pretoria.
