Mickelson, Phil

Mickelson, Phil (1970-…), is a leading American professional golfer. He is considered the greatest left-handed player in the history of the sport. Mickelson has won three of the four major tournaments, the Masters Tournament in 2004, 2006, and 2010; the United States Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Championship in 2005 and 2021; and the British Open in 2013. The other major tournament is the United States Open. Mickelson has finished in second place in the United States Open a record six times.

Philip Alfred Mickelson, Jr., was born on June 16, 1970, in San Diego. He attended Arizona State University, graduating with a degree in psychology in 1992. While playing on the Arizona State golf team, he was selected as first-team All American four straight years. In 1991, while still in college, Mickelson won the Northern Telecom Open, a U.S. PGA tournament. Mickelson turned professional in 1992. He gained his first tournament victory as a pro at the Buick International in 1993.
