Univision Communications Inc. is the largest Spanish-language media company in the United States. It operates numerous television stations, including the Univision Network, the TeleFutura Network, and Galavision. Univision also has a system of radio stations and a music recording and publishing company. The origins of Univision date back to 1961, when the first Spanish-language television station in the United States was launched in San Antonio. The station was part of the Spanish International Network, which later became Univision. In 1979, Galavision became the first Spanish-language cable television network in the United States. Univision became a publicly traded company in 1996. It launched Univision Online in 2000 and the Univision Music Group in 2001. In 2013, with ABC News, Univision launched Fusion, an English-language cable TV network geared toward Hispanic Americans.
