Bushel

Bushel is the common measure of bulky articles of commerce, such as grain, in the United States. It is equal to 4 pecks, 32 U.S. dry quarts, or 2,150.42 cubic inches (35.239 liters). This is the volume of a cylinder 8 inches (20 centimeters) deep and 181/2 inches (47 centimeters) in diameter. Britain once used a slightly smaller bushel. See also Weights and measures .
