Minnesota Wild is a professional hockey team that plays in the National Hockey League (NHL). The team competes in the Central Division of the Western Conference. The Wild plays in the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The Wild entered the NHL as an expansion team for the 2000-2001 season. A team called the Minnesota North Stars played in the NHL from 1967 until the franchise moved to Dallas in 1993. In 2007-2008, the Wild won its first division title, led by high-scoring right winger Marian Gaborik and goalie Niklas Bäckström. Other stars of the Wild have included goalie Manny Fernandez, centers Matt Cullen and Mikko Koivu, defensemen Jared Spurgeon and Ryan Suter, and wingers Zack Parise and Brian Rolston.
