Aguilera, Christina << ah gee LEH rah, krihs TEE nuh >> (1980-…), is a popular American singer. Aguilera has been successful recording pop songs in both Spanish and English. Her music has also included elements of jazz, blues, and rock. Aguilera is known for her powerful voice and a several-octave singing range.

Aguilera has won several Grammy Awards, beginning with being named Best New Artist in 2000. She also won Grammys for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Beautiful” (2003) and “Ain’t No Other Man” (2006). She won a Latin Grammy award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album, Mi Reflejo (2000).

Christina María Aguilera was born on Dec. 18, 1980, in the Staten Island borough of New York City. Her Hispanic heritage comes from her father, who was born in Ecuador. Aguilera began singing as a child, performing on national television when she was 8 years old. In the 1990’s, she appeared on the Walt Disney TV variety series “The All New Mickey Mouse Club.”

Aguilera recorded her first album, Christina Aguilera, in 1999, when she was 18. Her other hit songs include “Genie in a Bottle” (1999); “I Turn to You” (2000); a duet with the Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin called “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely” (2001); “Lady Marmalade” with the American singer Pink , the American rapper Lil’ Kim, and the American singer Mya (2001); and “Fighter” (2003). She was also featured on the hit single “Moves Like Jagger” (2011), by the American group Maroon 5. Her other albums include Stripped (2002); Back to Basics (2006); Bionic (2010); Lotus (2012); and Liberation (2018), featuring the single “Fall in Line” with the American singer Demi Lovato .

Aguilera made her motion-picture debut in Burlesque (2010). She was a coach on the singing-competition television show “The Voice” from 2011 to 2013.
