Meyer, Stephenie (1973-…), an American author of fiction for young adults, is best known for her popular “Twilight” series of vampire novels. The novels tell about the relationship between Isabella “Bella” Swan, a mortal teenager, and Edward Cullen, a teenage vampire who feeds on animal rather than human blood. A romantic triangle forms for Bella’s affections with Jacob Black, a teenage werewolf . Bella narrates the series, which is set in the actual small town of Forks, Washington. Critics have praised the novels for their successful blend of suspense and romance.

The “Twilight” series began with Twilight (2005), Meyer’s first published book. Other books in the series include the novels New Moon (2006), Eclipse (2007), and Breaking Dawn (2008), and the short novel The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (2010). A motion-picture adaptation of Twilight, starring the English actor Robert Pattinson as Edward, the American actress Kristen Stewart as Bella, and the American actor Taylor Lautner as Jacob, became a box-office hit in 2008, followed by New Moon in 2009 and Eclipse in 2010. Meyer also wrote an adult science-fiction novel, The Host (2008).

Stephenie Morgan was born on Dec. 24, 1973, in Hartford, Connecticut. She grew up in Phoenix. She married Christiaan Meyer, an accountant, in 1994. She received a B.A. degree in English from Brigham Young University in 1995.
