Iglesias, Enrique, << ee GLAY see ahs, ehn REE kay >> (1975-…), is a Spanish pop music singer and composer. He is one of the best-selling Latin recording artists in the world. Iglesias won the 1996 Grammy Award as best Latin pop performer. He has been successful recording pop songs in both Spanish and English.

Iglesias was born in Madrid on May 8, 1975, and grew up in Miami. His full name is Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler. His father is the Spanish singer Julio Iglesias. Enrique studied business administration at the University of Miami before deciding to pursue a career in music.

Iglesias’s first album, Enrique Iglesias, was released in 1995 and quickly became a best seller. It was recorded in Spanish and included the hits “Experiencia Religiosa (Religious Experience),” “No Llores Por Mí (Don’t Cry for Me),” “Por Amarte (To Love You),” “Si Tú Te Vas (If You Go),” and “Trapecista (Trapeze Artist).” His second album, Vivir (To Live), was released in 1997. It was also extremely popular.

Iglesias’s first single in the English-language market, “Bailamos (We Dance),” was released in 1999. He sang the song in both Spanish and English. “Bailamos” became a hit in the United States. Iglesias’s first album in English, Enrique, was also released in 1999. It featured the hit single “Rhythm Divine” and became one of his most successful albums. Iglesias has recorded a number of other successful albums in Spanish and in English. In 2010, his English-language song “I Like It,” featuring the American rapper Pitbull, became a top-10 hit in a number of countries.

Iglesias is also an actor. He performed in the action film Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003). He has also acted on television.
