World Vision

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to helping children, families, and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

World Vision was founded in 1950 by Robert Pierce, an American Baptist minister and war correspondent. It began as a program to assist children orphaned during the Korean War (1950-1953). Later, it expanded its service to people in other Asian countries. It eventually spread to Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Today, World Vision serves millions of people in nearly 100 countries.

Approximately half of World Vision’s programs are funded through child sponsorship. Individuals, families, churches, schools, and other groups sponsor specific children or specific community projects worldwide. Sponsors send funds each month to provide support for the sponsored children or projects.

World Vision is a member and founding organization of World Vision International. World Vision U.S. has its headquarters in Federal Way, Washington.
