Spanish water dog

Spanish water dog is a breed of dog used mainly for farm work and herding goats and sheep but also for hunting and helping fishermen. The Spanish water dog originated on the Iberian Peninsula of southwestern Europe. No one knows exactly when the Spanish water dog was developed.

The Spanish water dog stands 15 3/4 to 19 3/4 inches (40 to 50 centimeters) tall at the shoulder. It weighs from 31 to 49 pounds (14 to 22 kilograms). The dog has a curly coat that forms cords when long enough. The coat may be solid white, gray, black, or shades of brown, as well as parti-color where the second color is white. Spanish water dogs are intelligent, loyal, and naturally protective.
