Saverio, Tex (1984-…), is an Indonesian fashion designer based in Jakarta , Indonesia . Saverio is known for creating elaborate couture pieces with an edgy and dramatic or whimsical style. Couture refers to custom-made, highly fashionable clothing.
Saverio’s elaborately decorated gowns have been worn by international celebrities, including Americans Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga , and featured in magazine photospreads. One of Saverio’s creations, a Swarovski crystal-encrusted wedding gown, was worn by the American actress Jennifer Lawrence in her role as Katniss Everdeen in the movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Saverio also has a following of celebrities in Asia, including such entertainers as Sammi Cheng of China and Ayumi Hamasaki of Japan.
Tex Saverio was born in Jakarta on Aug. 28, 1984. He attended the Bunka School of Fashion and the Phalie Studio School of Art and Design, both in Jakarta. Saverio began his career as a fashion designer in 2006. He launched his first couture collection in 2010 in Jakarta, under the label “Tex Saverio Privé.” His custom-made designs are known for their lavish use of luxury fabrics, theatrical silhouettes (body shapes), complicated draping, beadwork, ruffles, and customized headdresses.
In 2012, Saverio and his business partners, Faye Liu and Warren Liu, launched Saverio & Liu Limited, a global ready-to-wear clothing company. Saverio showcased his first ready-to-wear spring/summer collection during Paris Fashion Week in 2014. His designs are distinguished by strong lines, skilllfully planned fabric pairings, and complex surface decorations. Saverio received the Mercedes-Benz Asia Fashion Award in 2005. The award is given to new, innovative designers of ready-to-wear clothing from throughout Asia, including such nations as Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
