Trout, Mike (1991-… ), is one of the best players in Major League Baseball (MLB). Trout is a center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels in the American League. He ranks among the leading batters in the league, hitting both for average and power. He is also an outstanding defender and base runner. Trout was named Rookie of the Year in 2012 when he hit .326 and had 30 home runs and 83 runs batted in. He led the league that year with 49 stolen bases. He was named the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2014, 2016, and 2019. Trout finished second in MVP voting four other times.
Trout bats and throws right-handed. He has been named an All-Star 11 times and has led the American League in runs scored 4 times. His 111 RBI’s led the league in 2014. Trout led the league in walks—many of them intentional—in 2013, 2016, and 2018.
Michael Nelson Trout was born on Aug. 7, 1991, in Vineland, New Jersey. He was drafted in 2009 by the Angels as the 25th selection in the 1st round. Trout played Minor League Baseball before being called up to the Angels in July 2011.
