Day, Jason (1987- ), is a successful Australian professional golfer . In 2015, Day won his first major golf tournament, the PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) Championship . The other majors in men’s golf are the Masters, the U.S. Open, and the British Open. Day won the PGA Championship with a score of 20 strokes under par. He was the first player to finish 20 under par in any major tournament. In previous majors, Day had finished among the top five players six times.
Day was born on Nov. 12, 1987, in Beaudesert, Queensland, near Brisbane. His father was Irish-Australian and his mother is a native of the Philippines. Day began playing golf at the age of 6. He entered several local competitions, with his first important victory coming at the age of 13 in the 2000 Australian Masters junior tournament. Day turned professional in 2006. In 2010, he won the HP Byron Nelson Championship, becoming the youngest Australian to win a PGA tour event. On Sept. 20, 2015, Day won the BMW Championship, elevating him to the ranking of number one men’s player in the world.
