Colorado Rapids

Colorado Rapids are a professional soccer team in the United States . Soccer is called football in many parts of the world. The team competes in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top soccer league in the United States and Canada . The team plays its home games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado , a suburb of Denver .

Colorado was one of the founding teams of MLS in 1996. The club reached the final of the 1997 MLS Cup Playoffs, but lost the championship to D.C. United . The Rapids consistently reached the playoffs through 2006, but failed to advance beyond the conference finals. In 2010, Colorado finally returned to the MLS Cup final, defeating FC Dallas for the club’s first championship.

Colorado’s MLS Cup final appearances qualified the club for the CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football) Champions League , an annual tournament among that region’s best professional clubs.
