Cesky << CHEHS kee >> terrier is a muscular, short-legged dog breed known for its hunting ability. It has a long, fine coat with a silky gloss that is shades of gray in color. The dog has pendulous (hanging) ears and a natural tail—that is, a tail that is not traditionally docked (cut off). The dog weighs 16 to 22 pounds (7 to 10 kilograms) and stands 10 to 13 inches (25 to 33 centimeters) tall at the shoulder. It is keen, alert, and moderately active.
The Cesky terrier was developed in what is now the Czech Republic in 1949. It was bred for hunting in packs in the forests of the Bohemia region. The dog was originally raised to hunt ducks, fox, pheasants, rabbits, and even wild boar.
