Campbell, Bronte

Campbell, Bronte (1994-…), is an Australian swimmer. Campbell competed in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Summer Olympic Games. In those games, she won a total of four medals—three gold and one bronze.

Campbell won a gold medal as a member of the Australian 400-meter freestyle relay team at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, she won a gold medal as a member of the Australian 400-meter freestyle relay team and a bronze medal as a member of the Australian 400-meter mixed medley relay team. The 2020 Summer Olympic Games were held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, Campbell won a gold medal as a member of the Australian 400-meter freestyle relay team.

Campbell has also enjoyed success at the Commonwealth Games. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland, Campbell won gold medals as a member of the Australian 400-meter freestyle relay team and as a member of the Australian 400-meter medley relay team. She also won a silver medal in the 100-meter freestyle event and a bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle event. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, Campbell won gold medals as a member of the Australian 400-meter freestyle relay team, as a member of the Australian 400-meter medley relay team, and in the 100-meter freestyle event. She also won a silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle event.

In 2009, Campbell won the gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney, Australia. From 2013 to 2019, Campbell won five gold medals, four silver medals, and two bronze medals at the FINA World Championships. FINA, the organization that governs international competitive swimming, is now called World Aquatics.

Bronte Campbell was born in Blantyre, Malawi, on May 14, 1994. She moved to Australia with her family in 2001. Campbell’s older sister, Cate, was also an Olympic gold-medal-winning swimmer.
