Brown, Antonio (1988-…), has been an outstanding wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). Brown has also excelled as a kick and punt returner. Brown became known for his quickness and ability to avoid defenders.
Brown began his professional career with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010. In 2011, he had over 1,000 yards in receiving and collected over 1,000 yards returning, becoming the first player to do both in the same year. In 2013, he became the first player to get at least 5 receptions and 50 yards in every game of a regular season. Brown led the league in receptions in 2014 and 2015, in receiving yards in 2014 and 2017, and in touchdown receptions in 2018.
Despite his remarkable performance on the field, Brown developed a strained relationship with the team and eventually requested a trade. In 2019, he was traded to the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders. In September, before the Raiders’ season began, Brown was released because of several off-season controversies. He quickly was signed by the New England Patriots, who then also released him. In 2020, Brown signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2022, the Buccaneers released Brown.
Brown was born on July 10, 1988, in Miami, Florida, the son of the legendary Arena Football League player Eddie Brown. In high school, Antonio Brown excelled in football and track, but his father was not involved in his life at the time, and Antonio struggled with homelessness. Brown played college football at Central Michigan University from 2007 to 2009. He left school after his junior year to become a professional football player. The Steelers picked Brown in the sixth round of the 2010 draft.
