Koepka, Brooks (1990-…), is an American professional golfer. He rose to the rank of number one in the world in 2018, after winning the CJ Cup tournament in Jeju Island, South Korea. The CJ Cup is a professional golf tournament on the United States Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Tour.
Koepka also won the United States Open in 2017 and 2018 and the PGA Championship in 2018 and 2019, making him the first golfer to hold back-to-back victories in two majors at the same time. He also won the PGA Championship in 2023. The four majors in men’s golf are the Masters Tournament, the United States Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship.
Koepka was born on May 3, 1990, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He attended Florida State University from 2008 to 2012, where he starred on the golf team. In 2009, he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Rookie of the Year. He received the ACC Player of the Year award in 2010.
Koepka became a professional golfer in 2012. He began playing on the European Challenge Tour, where he quickly collected three victories. Koepka then joined the European Tour (now called the DP World Tour), playing in his first event in 2013 at the Scottish Open. He joined the PGA Tour during the 2014-2015 season and was named Rookie of the Year. In 2022, he began playing on the LIV Golf tour, which held its first tournament that year.
Koepka also played on the U.S. Ryder Cup team that faced the European team in 2016, 2018, and 2021. The Ryder Cup is a competition between U.S. and European golfers that is held every two years. The 2020 Ryder Cup competition was played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
