Jazz Age is a name sometimes used for a period in United States history also known as the Roaring Twenties. The 1920’s were years of rapid economic growth, rising prosperity for many people, and far-reaching social changes. Spurred on by prosperity and a desire to be “modern,” large numbers of Americans adopted new attitudes and lifestyles. For many people, these changes were symbolized by the flourishing of a relatively new kind of music—jazz. Pleasure seekers of the 1920’s listened to jazz, drank bootleg liquor, and enjoyed other new thrills.
