Siamese cat is a popular breed of house cat. It is known as an intelligent, affectionate, and vocal pet. The Siamese cat originated in Thailand, which was previously called Siam. In 1884, a pair of Siamese cats were brought to the United Kingdom. Their offspring and further imports won many prizes at cat shows, and the breed soon gained worldwide popularity.
Siamese cats weigh between 5 and 12 pounds (2 and 5 kilograms). They have long, flexible bodies with short coats, triangular faces, and large ears. Siamese cats come in various slightly different colors, but their faces, legs, and tails are dark, their bodies are pale, and their eyes are blue. On average, Siamese cats live more than 10 years.
