Chrome, << krohm, >> is the name given to several combinations of chromium and lead that are used as paint pigments. These compounds produce bright green, orange, red, and yellow paints. Manufacturers limit their use of these substances because of the toxic lead content. One nontoxic pigment, not to be confused with leaded chromes, is chrome oxide.
