Churchill, Clive (1927-1985), was one of Australia’s greatest Rugby League fullbacks. He was brilliant in both defense and attack. Churchill was born in Newcastle on Jan. 21, 1927. He played for leading Rugby League clubs, including Newcastle and South Sydney. From 1950 to 1955, he captained the Kangaroos, Australia’s national team. He represented Australia in a total of 34 Test matches. Churchill retired in 1959. He died on Aug. 9, 1985.
