Commander Islands

Commander Islands, also called Komandorskiye Islands, are a Russian island group in the Bering Sea, east of the Kamchatka Peninsula. They cover about 715 square miles (1,852 square kilometers), and consist of Bering and Medny islands and two islets. The islands are mountainous and largely covered with tundra vegetation (see Tundra). The people fish and operate fox and seal fur farms.
