Curry

Curry is the English word for a fragrant, intensely seasoned Asian stew. Curry likely originated in India and Pakistan. A curry dish may feature fish, meat, vegetables, or grains. Many Indian-style curries are flavored with a special mixture of ground, dried spices. Cumin, coriander, turmeric, and pepper are common curry spices. Some curries feature 20 or more different spices. In southeast Asia, curries are often made with seasoning pastes rather than dried spice mixes. Certain Thai curry pastes, for example, are made with fresh chili peppers, garlic, and lemongrass.
