Disneyland Park is a popular theme park located inside Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, on the southwestern Pacific coast of the United States. The park features rides and live shows inspired by motion pictures produced by the Walt Disney Company. Disneyland opened in 1955. The park is open every day of the year, and it attracts millions of visitors from throughout the world.
The theme park occupies about 100 acres (40 hectares). The park skyline is dominated by Sleeping Beauty Castle, named for the animated Disney film Sleeping Beauty (1959). Disneyland consists of several “lands,” each with its own theme. The original lands were Main Street, U.S.A.; Adventureland; Frontierland; Fantasyland; and Tomorrowland. The park added New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country (now Critter Country) in 1972, Mickey’s Toontown in 1993, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019.
In 2001, Disney California Adventure Park opened on the site of Disneyland’s original parking lot. California Adventure, the second theme park located inside Disneyland Resort, features rides and attractions that focus on the history and culture of California.
