Dyne

Dyne << dyn >> is a unit of force. It is the force that acting upon 1 gram of matter will give it an acceleration of 1 centimeter per second for every second the force acts (1 centimeter per second per second). The dyne is part of the centimeter-gram-second (CGS) system, an early version of the metric system (see Metric system). In the modern metric system, called the International System of Units (SI), the newton is used instead of the dyne to measure force (see Newton).
