Eagles, Fraternal Order of

Eagles, Fraternal Order of, also known as the F.O.E. or the Eagles, is a fraternal organization. It has chapters called aeries throughout the United States and Canada. Women in auxiliary chapters are also active in national, state, and local programs. The F.O.E. sponsors programs for youth and senior citizens. It also supports research on AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, Parkinson disease, and spinal cord injury. The order promotes state old-age pensions, social security legislation, Mother’s Day observances, health research, civic activities, and legislation banning job bias against older workers. The F.O.E. was founded in Seattle in 1898. Its motto is People Helping People. Its international headquarters are in Grove City, Ohio.
