Fez is a tall, red, brimless cap with a colored tassel of silk or wool. It is worn in Egypt and in North Africa where it is sometimes called a tarboosh. All fezzes were once colored with a dye made from the juice of red berries found only in Morocco. This same color can now be produced by chemical dyes. The fez was first made in Fez, Morocco.
