Fisher, Vardis

Fisher, Vardis (1895-1968), an American author, became best known for his fictional history of the Mormons, The Children of God (1939). Fisher’s 12-volume novel series, The Testament of Man, traced human thought from its beginnings to the present. The first novel in this series, Darkness and the Deep, was published in 1943.

Fisher was born on March 31, 1895, in Annis, Idaho. He was graduated from the University of Utah and received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Chicago. He died on July 9, 1968.
