Ford, Hannibal Choate (1877-1955), an American inventor and engineer, developed equipment to control the range and accuracy of gunfire. He perfected the method that allowed guns to aim accurately from the rolling decks of a ship at sea.
Ford formed the Ford Instrument Company in 1915 and became its first president. Later, the company became a division of the Sperry Rand Corporation (now part of Unisys Corporation). He helped make many improvements on typewriters and also invented an automatic bombsight. Ford was born on May 8, 1877, in Dryden, New York. He died on March 12, 1955.
