Fossil Butte National Monument

Fossil Butte, << byoot, >> National Monument, an area of rare plant and animal fossils, is in southwestern Wyoming. The fossils date from the Paleocene Epoch and the Eocene Epoch, which together lasted from about 65 million to 34 million years ago. The site became a national monument in 1972.
