General Services Administration (GSA)

General Services Administration (GSA) is an independent executive agency of the United States government. It works to improve government efficiency and to help federal agencies better serve the public. GSA provides a variety of products and services to the federal government, including workspace, office equipment and supplies, paint, tools, and furniture. It also provides security, information technology, and telecommunications services.

GSA performs many additional functions. It manages federal travel and transportation services and maintains the federal motor vehicle fleet. It provides oversight for federal child care centers, preserves historic buildings, and sponsors a fine arts program. It also operates government communications and computer systems. In addition, it helps develop and evaluate certain government policies.

GSA was established by the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949. Its headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
