Globulin, << GLOB yuh lihn, >> is a protein component of the plasma (watery) part of the blood. Scientists classify globulin as alpha, beta, and gamma globulin. Each group, particularly gamma, contains antibodies, which give protection against specific infections (see Immune system ). When additional antibodies are needed, as during infections, gamma globulin content increases.
