Greater Swiss mountain dog

Greater Swiss mountain dog is a breed of dog developed in Switzerland. Its short, thick fur is mostly black, but the dog has white and brown markings on its face, chest, legs, and tail. It weighs 90 to 140 pounds (41 to 64 kilograms) and grows 23 to 29 inches (58 to 74 centimeters) high. Roman soldiers brought the ancestors of these dogs to Switzerland more than 2,000 years ago. For centuries, people used the dogs to pull carts and to herd livestock.
