Apennine << AP uh `nyn,` >> Tunnel, is a train tunnel on the Florence-Bologna railroad line in north-central Italy. The tunnel runs through the mountain range called the Apennines. Its 111/2-mile (18.5-kilometer) length makes it one of the longest train tunnels in the world. The tunnel was built between 1920 and 1934.
