Hadlee, Sir Richard (1951-…), a New Zealand cricketer, became one of the world’s top bowlers in the 1980’s. In 1988, he had taken 373 Test wickets. This placed him third behind English cricketer Ian Botham and Australian bowler Dennis Lillee. In 1990, he became the first bowler to take 400 Test wickets. He retired from Test cricket in 1990. Richard John Hadlee was born on July 3, 1951, in Christchurch. His autobiography, Rhythm and Swing, was published in 1989. Hadlee was knighted in 1990.
