Jaguarundi

Jaguarundi << `jah` gwuh RUHN dee >> is a wild cat of the Western Hemisphere. It has a long neck, a weasel-shaped head, short ears, stubby legs, and a long tail. The cat stands about 1 foot (30 centimeters) high at the shoulder and is from 3 to 4 feet (91 to 122 centimeters) long. It weighs from 11 to 22 pounds (5 to 10 kilograms). Some jaguarundis are dark grayish-brown or black. Others are reddish-yellow. Jaguarundis are active at dawn, at dusk, and during the day. They eat rodents, birds, and farm animals. They live from Mexico to South America.
