Japanese spitz is a breed of dog developed in Japan. It is a medium-sized dog with a large head and a pointed muzzle. It has black eyes, a black nose, and small pointed ears. The tail, which is curled over the back, is typical of the breed. The coat is thick and pure white. The dog stands from 12 to 16 inches (30 to 40 centimeters) high at the shoulder and weighs about 22 pounds (10 kilograms). The Japanese spitz serves as a guard dog and a companion dog.
