Arno River rises in the Etruscan section of the Apennine Mountains in northwestern Italy. The river flows west for about 150 miles (241 kilometers) and empties into the Ligurian Sea. The cities of Florence and Pisa lie along the banks of the river. The fertile Arno Valley has vineyards and olive groves, and is also noted for its scenic beauty.
