Labrador tea is a group of small evergreen plants with leaves that can be used to brew tea. The plants grow in the wet meadows, bogs, and forests of temperate and subarctic regions of the Northern Hemisphere. In addition to tea, the leaves of these plants have been used as a substitute for hops in making beer. However, they are poisonous to grazing animals. Tannin, used in tanning animal hides, also comes from the leaves.
