Alibates << al uh BAHT eez >> Flint Quarries National Monument is in Potter County in northwestern Texas. The monument has quarries where prehistoric Indians dug stone for weapons and tools. Nearby are ruins of a Pueblo Indian settlement built in the 1100’s and 1200’s. The monument was authorized in 1965. For area, see National Park System (table: National monuments) .
